Sean Rudes and Steven Dann, founders of MONFRÈRE, share their passion:
“Nothing beats the thrill of witnessing a customer’s first reaction when they try on our jeans. When someone steps out of the fitting room and exclaims, ‘These are incredible—the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn! What other washes do you have?’—that’s the moment we know we’ve succeeded. It’s pure exhilaration and the ultimate reward for what we do.”

MONFRÈRE, which means “my brother” in French, is the culmination of decades of fashion and retail expertise shared by its founders, Sean Rudes and Steven Dann. This dynamic duo has redefined denim by blending refined comfort with luxury aesthetics. Their vision? To create premium jeans that effortlessly transition from day to night, catering to the modern man who values both style and versatility. With a shared belief in the enduring appeal of slim-fit luxury denim, Rudes and Dann have positioned MONFRÈRE as a wardrobe essential for the discerning gentleman.

“Denim is constantly evolving, and new technologies lend the opportunity to treat denim that the fit and feel are much more comfortable than the classic, rigid denim of past decades. With MONFRÈRE, we have created a new category of men’s denim that didn’t exist before. Now men can go from day to night, travel, and work, in the same pair of stylish, comfortable denim,” says the founders. “Using exclusive Japanese Denim manipulated with new technology and cut in our signature flattering, comfortable fits, we’re elevating denim for men.”

The MONFRÉRE denim label isn’t following current trends of baggy, or oversized jeans, adapted by women and men alike. The Fall 2024 collection of MONFRÈRE denim epitomizes the skinny jean cut in bold prints and designs. Crafted in its Los Angeles studio, the denim label works with Japanese sateen for more of a stretch with a soft feel and quality look. The name holds up, as the celebrity scene has favored denim label who recently hosted a VIP event at the Beachwood, Ohio Saks Fifth Avenue store. For the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, MONFRÉRE invited guests including rapper Fabolous, San Antonio Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray, who played in the All-Star Game, Cleveland Browns’ Donovan Peoples-Jones, Dallas Mavericks’ Trey Burke, Davion Mitchell of the Sacramento Kings, and entertainers like Lil Durk, Leslie Odom Jr., John Legend, and Latin music star Maluma.

The designers have plans to further their vision of genuinely comfortable luxury fashion pieces. “We just launched our first Men’s Denim jacket exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue,” they mention. “For Fall / Winter 2024, we’re adding knitwear and denim shirts using the same key elements of high-quality fabrications in flattering fits that have made our MONFRÈRE denim jeans a wardrobe staple.”

Rudes and Dann have crafted a unique line of denim that represents their mission and displays tasteful innovation in modern denim. Although MONFRÉRE denim is branching into other categories, its nucleus is jeans. Rudes and Dann concluded by stating that their “denim will always be our core and the common denominator of every collection. These additional categories are about elevating the look.” The MONFRÉRE line can be found at worldwide retailers Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Selfridges.
